The latest issue of the Reflektif-Journal of Social Sciences focuses on Critical Animal Studies


The fifth issue of the Reflektif Journal of Social Sciences, published on June 25th, focuses on Critical Animal Studies. Edited by Karun Çekem and Özlem Güçlü, this comprehensive issue brings together researchers from various social science disciplines to discuss the relationship between humans and non-human animals from different perspectives and starting points.


In her article titled "Animal History: A Cross-Species Perspective on the Ottoman-Turkish Past," Deniz Dölek-Sever provides an in-depth summary of the debates in historiography. Eylül Tuğçe Alnıaçık Özyer explores the process of cat collection in the German Empire in her article "The Life of Disgraced Cats or the Birth of Shelters: The German Example." İbrahim Can Usta examines a historically overlooked animal species, oxen, in his article "Oxen in History," starting from an old photograph.
