Renowned ethologist Dr. Jane Goodall was a guest at Istanbul Bilgi University on May 6th.
World-renowned ethologist Dr. Jane Goodall gave a talk titled "Reasons for Hope" at the Santralistanbul campus of Istanbul Bilgi University on May 6th in collaboration with the university's Faculty of Communication and Roots & Shoots Turkey.
Speaking about her extraordinary life story, Goodall shared that her professors in the British academy during her youth held strong prejudices against animals, believing they lacked cognitive and emotional worlds. However, Goodall had learned a great deal from the animals she had observed closely since childhood, proving these prejudices wrong. Emphasizing that nature's resilience and ability to regenerate are a great source of hope, the esteemed researcher informed the audience about the activities of her institute and association. In response to a question from a child, Goodall replied that the most dangerous animal species she had encountered in the rainforest was humans.
